A hearty and comforting casserole with layers of savory ground beef, rich tomatoes, and gooey cheese.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound Ground beef
1 medium Onion, chopped
2 cloves Garlic, minced
28 ounces Canned diced tomatoes (with juice)
1 teaspoon Dried oregano
1 teaspoon Dried basil
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
2 cups Uncooked pasta (elbow macaroni or similar)
2 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
1 tablespoon Olive oil
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and ground beef to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Incorporate the canned diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
Stir in the uncooked pasta until well combined.
Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden brown.
Once done, remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
