A delightful beverage bursting with vibrant citrus flavors, perfect for summer gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup of fresh lemon juice (about 4 to 6 lemons)
1 cup of fresh orange juice (about 3 to 4 oranges)
1 cup of granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
4 cups of water (divided into 2 cups cold and 2 cups hot)
Fresh orange slices for garnish
Fresh lemon slices for garnish
Mint leaves (optional) for garnish
Instructions
Start by juicing your lemons and oranges. Roll the fruits on a hard surface to soften them, making it easier to extract juice. Cut them in half and use a citrus juicer to get the maximum amount of juice.
In a small saucepan, combine 2 cups of hot water and the sugar over medium heat. Stir continuously until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice, fresh orange juice, and the cooled simple syrup. Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Stir well to mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
Taste your lemonade and adjust the sweetness if necessary by adding more sugar or water according to your preference.
Place the pitcher in the refrigerator to chill for at least one hour before serving.
When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice, pour the Refreshing Orange Lemonade over, and garnish with fresh orange and lemon slices and mint leaves if desired.
