Description
An extraordinary twist on traditional st■ cabbage recipes, combining shrimp and beef sausage with Cajun spices for a savory delight.
Ingredients
Scale:
12 large cabbage leaves
1 pound ground beef sausage
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 cup cooked rice
1 medium onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and blanch the leaves for about 2-3 minutes until they are pliable. Remove and let them cool.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Add the ground beef sausage to the skillet, breaking it up as it cooks. Stir in the shrimp and cook for 3-4 minutes until they turn pink.
Mix in the cooked rice, tomato sauce, and Cajun seasoning. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Allow the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes, blending the flavors.
Place about 1/3 cup of the filling on the end of each cabbage leaf. Roll tightly, tucking in the sides to secure the filling, and place seam-side down in a baking dish.
Pour any remaining tomato sauce over the st■ cabbage rolls and cover the dish with aluminum foil.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
Remove from the oven and let sit for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow flavors to settle.
