Imagine rich, fudgy brownies that melt in your mouth, topped with a vibrant, eye-catching purple frosting that brings a playful twist to a classic dessert.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened) for frosting
2 cups powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting
2-3 drops purple food coloring (or to desired color)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and whisk in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold this mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
While the brownies are baking, prepare the purple frosting. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with milk, until you achieve a smooth consistency.
Add the vanilla extract and purple food coloring, mixing until the desired color is achieved.
Once the brownies are cool, spread the purple frosting evenly over the top. Cut into squares and serve.
